The Boogeyman

The Boogeyman was orignally used to scare children into good behavior. While he has no set apperence or gender, he is still frightening. I think because there is no set look for him that's what makes him so scary. In some cases "Boogeyman" is another name for the "devil". That really doesn't help the scary factor. He appears in many places that generally invovled him being a monster that eats children. Steals children from homes, sometimes puts them in a sack or takes them through tiny holes. Also lives in closets and under beds. Pitch hates being called "Boogeyman".

Symbolism

Pitch's hideout is shown to be under a broke bed and through a hole in the floor. That's not creepy at all. This is in reference to the Boogeyman living under beds. Rather simple. Probably lives under the bed because it's easier to snatch up children that way.

Pitch wears black. I belive this is to better slink into the shadows and hide better. But what does the color "black" say? (Also I'm not an art student, black's a color not a shade.)

"The color black relates to the hidden, the secretive and the unknown, and as a result it creates an air of mystery. It keeps things bottled up inside, hidden from the world." That suits Pitch! Keep it hidden until he is ready to pounce and steal children. A lot of Pitch is hidden too. I mean his past is pretty much cleared up in the books but what about his future? Black is also the color for power and control, which honestly is all Pitch wants. Black is also an indimitation color, makes sales but no friends. And honestly, Pitch isn't into making friends...or sales but scaring people.

"Too much black can cause depression and mood swings and create a negative environment." And now you know what Pitch's problem is. He has a very negative enivroment that cause him to go crazy. It really isn't that far from the truth. The color black has a lot of influence over Pitch's life.
